When I was surfing the net for recipes I got to know that watermelon can be consumed in so many ways. Thanks Bee for choosing this theme for AFAM, otherwise I would have been happy eating watermelon just like that.
The watermelon season is nearly finished over here. So it was difficult to find a good one. I got inspiration for making this recipe from here
Method
1.Cut triangular slices from the watermelon. Chill the slices in the fridge till they are firm.
2. Make small balls of mango and watermelon with a scooper.Chill them too.
3. Before serving drain the juice , put Vanila Ice cream between two slices of watermelon and also on the top most slice.
4 Decorate with the smalls balls.
The original recipe used grated coconut filling, I used ice cream. Serve immediately .
The photography session and Dilli ki garmi (Delhi summers) melted the ice cream.
So you will find more of ice cream all over in the photo .But the ice cream and watermelon combination tasted good.

Hey very nice recipe. shud try this. Thnx so much for the recipe….
Try it only on chilled slices of water melon. There is so much water in them that ice cream starts melting

That’s a really unusual recipe, Archana, and it looks nice and colourful! I thought you used watermelon in a real cake!
Oh the net gives many ideas and recipes
Even I had thought it will be added to a cake batter. When I saw this link I liked the idea of making it look like a cake.

thats very unique to combine mango and watermelon.
Oh I did not have any other fruit so I teamed mango with water melon. Also to add colour to the dish
There are many recipes on the net for new ideas

Hi!
Watermelon and vanilla a good combo!! and easy work too!!!!
very nice entry for AFAM .
Yes they tasted gr8 together only thing is the watermelon should be chilled well. Don’t ever try on freshly cut slices it will give a messy result

Thanx Trupti
Even I liked your idea of snow mountains.
Nupur // July 2, 2007 at 4:45 pm
Guess what…I had the same idea (for small watermelon ice-cream sandwiches) but in my case, the ice cream melted and became such a mess
Your creation looks superb!
Thanx Nupur

Oh even I had tough time keeping the ice cream in place. Even mine was looking a mess.
The slices need to be chilled well and drained so that ice cream does not melt atleast for some time
Instead of sandwiching I would suggest putting the ice cream on one single thick slice of water melon.
