Drool :b….

August 22, 2007 · 27 Comments

This time its been long since I posted something. So I decided to share these pictures of the Tandoori Platter I always have at my favorite restaurant chain :) I had mentioned it in my earlier post of Stuffed Tandoori Aloo about it.

The moment the platter came I started taking pictures sitting. Then my hubby dear intervened, saying I don’t know how to click pictures. Not satisfied he took few snaps himself. Blogging makes you do such weird things. Sra I agree with you :D
The pictures may not make you drool as I have written. I don’t have a digital camera so all my pictures are clicked with the Nokia 6610i mobile phone.

Please bear with my ok ok pictures for some more time. Till then “imagine” the taste of all the goodies on the plate and drooooooool :b………….

Believe me it tastes awesome hot hot :) The platter consists of naan, kali dal, paneer tikka, tandoori stuffed aloo, seekh kabab, green chutney and onions, chaat masala. All veg items so I am happy :)

Suganya don’t worry I will tell them to start a branch at your place :D)))

  • Raaga // August 22, 2007 at 1:48 pm

And which restaurant is this? I too love the all veg tandoori platters that you get at many restaurants. I last had this at Geoffrey’s :-)
It is Haldiram . For you , the main branch which lies bang on national highway while going from Gurgaon to Jaipur is suitable :) It must be 15 to 20 km from Gurgaon. Enjoy!!

  • Kamini // August 22, 2007 at 1:54 pm

I can imagine how yummy this platter must have been. My all time favorite foods - naan, dal and paneer tikka. Wish I was there too :).

Yes Kamini it is very tasty. You should not waste a minute and have it hot :)

Arch dear, this isn’t weird at all! What’s weird is when you do things you’d never do, or cook things you’d normally not eat, just because you have a blog - but who cares, we’re all having fun!
The tandoori gobi looks good - I know you’ve posted the recipe but I’d rather it was served to me, too lazy to make it myself.

;D))) Sra for me it was weird because I had never done anything like that in a public place :)
That is tandoori aloo not gobi. BTW even I prefer eating it out than making it at home :)

  • sra // August 22, 2007 at 5:17 pm

OOps, I meant tandoori aloo, sorry, not gobi. Gobi’s been on my mind since last night - I bought a perfect, unblemished one and only when I put it in hot water, did I see a fat worm and a spider trying to wriggle out - I may post it on the blog tonight, the gobi, i mean, not the worm!

:D))) Invariably that happens, gobhi looks good outside and inside there is already a wriggly occupant looking at you :D Waiting to see your gobhi recipe. Poor worm and the spider :)

WOW!!! That plate is way better than my Udupi Masala dosa plate!! YUM!! That is a great restaurant. All we get here is the std fare, same things all the time.Enjoy:))

:D))) Asha Masala Dosa is equally good . Both dishes are special.Come over to Delhi on a holiday and enjoy the real khana. Good eateries for non veg eaters too :)

Hi archu, My brother’s home is Ambience on jaipur highway. I just visited my parents who stay with him in july. I visited haldirams ,my bhabi bought a whole lot of goodies for my son. Where do you stay?
I love the tandoori aloo! I used to make them long back.Nice pictures.

Hi Latha, That is gr8. This means you are close to Haldiram. I stay very very far from there.
Next visit plan to have most of their menu. I always take a long time to decide what to eat and keep gazing at the menu chart, so many temptations. I just wrote to Lakshmi that you all should visit this place in winters so that you can enjoy the rich food :)
I prefer eating these tandoori aloo etc there and avoid making it at home :)

  • lathanarasimhanay // August 22, 2007 at 7:24 pm

Btw, I am happy that your idlies and dosas were yummy. I know archana, this recipe never fails if you follow all the tips carefully.

Latha that day I forgot to thank you for the tips. Many many thanks Latha, it is the first time idlis were so soft and best part was the batter stayed fresh for so long :)
I followed the tips for making dosa too, (adjusting the heat), it worked wonders :)

  • lakshmi // August 22, 2007 at 7:43 pm

no fair, no fair….you’re making me feel horribly hungry with that description of the platter

:D)) Sorry Lakshmi I mistook you to be Latha’s daughter (yum blog ) so I replied accordingly last night. The platter is drool worthy Lakshmi . I go crazy if I visit that place. I want to make most of the trip and so I eat there and carry packed other goodies home. I am a big foodie.

Archana, read your comment in Qtol just now. All qtol stories written by lakshmi(My daughter) are the lovely moments we had !Also read the stories in my blog posted undertamizh culture. These are real life incidents. :D ))) All the while I kept feeling bad about the whole episode :) Good it was not a mistake. I will visit qtol often :)

  • sra // August 23, 2007 at 10:54 am

No, I let them survive, Arch. The worm was picked up with a couple of matchsticks and left in the dustbin to feed on cauliflower remains, the spider was suppressed by my broom and released outside my door - it was a strange spider, white and plastic-looking! And the worm was black and mini-caterpillar like, just to finish off the description!

EEeeeeeeeeeeek Sra :D ))), your description is enough to keep me away from cauliflowers :)
You are kind hearted , let the worm party on the remains :) I can very well visualize the plastic looking spider. Just check the florets. The worm and the spider both must have left their (heirs ) baby eggs to make your cauliflower stew more delicious :D)))

  • viji // August 23, 2007 at 11:54 am

Viji you are most welcome :)

  • nz // August 24, 2007 at 5:01 am

Oh you had to post that didnt you ? my mouth is watering as I see that plate. Next time I visit Delhi ( which I always do when I visit India cos I have some old friends there ) I am taking the restaurant’s address from you - I have to try those tandoori aloo.

Is that a new restaurant, bcos I am going to kill my friends for not taking me for a tandoori treat when I was last there that too knowing well that I love eating all this stuff that we dont get here !!

    Hi Abha,
This is Haldiram. It has branches all over and is pure veg eatery ( self service ).This is a pretty old set up. I think initially they had outlets on Mathura road. They have expanded their outlets. Now Delhi has it . Even the outskirts like Gurgaon has an outlet.

  • kajal // August 24, 2007 at 10:32 pm

I try your lemon squash as you say really this is very nice lemon juice ready when we are not like to make whole process for that. Also when I am coming from my job I need this type of cold drink……thanks for sharing.

Don’t worry your picture is clear my dear and your dish of chain restaurant is fabulous. Keep it up.:)))

    Hi Kajal,
I am so happy you liked the squash. Try keeping one bottle in the sun to dissolve the sugar,my friends used to keep it.
Thanx Kajal for your sweet comments :)
